How to Guarantee a Quick Win for New Clients

Stuart Trier: Hey guys. In this video, I want to talk to you about how to guarantee a quick win for new clients. What we’re going to go through is how you can show a win to either your new or your existing clients by quickly building up their social profiles. These are things like Facebook accounts, pages, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube subscribers, show them how they can build an email list so that you’re actually getting them leads coming into their business or a pixel list where you’re going to be able to grab a bunch of people visiting a page and then ultimately retarget them with some kind of offer. This is just a great way for you to demonstrate your marketing chops and ultimately provide them with that wow experience that is remarkable and hopefully leads to word-of-mouth and referrals from them because you over-deliver, ultimately opening up an opportunity for you to sell them more of your backend products. All right.

The first thing we’re going to do is we’re going to head over to this site. This is gleam.io, and we are going to run a competition for your client that is going to drive the social engagement, it’s going to build their social accounts, you can use it to build their email list or their pixel list, and this is just a simple easy way to really deliver a win for clients. All right. Once you get here you’ll be able to sign up. You can sign up and use a free account. I’m using a free account to demonstrate this, so everything that I’m doing here, you will be able to do for free. I will make available to you a step by step guide so that you can walk through and do this for your clients.

Once you sign in and you’ve set up your free account, you’re going to want to go up to the top right here and click new competition. Takes a second or two to load, and while it’s loading I’ll just tell you that it’s really, really easy to do this for your client. Even if you have to put up whatever it is that is going to entice their market, it’s just that easy win to really deliver. People like competitions, they’re willing to engage, and ultimately this is going to be something that is going to deliver that easy win for you. All right.

What I’m going to do is I’m actually going to set up a competition for Marketing Cheat Guides. This is only going to run for a few days, so depending on when you’re watching this video it may already be done, but this is just demonstrating how you could put it to use in your business. All right. I’m going to call this AppSumo Gift Cards, and I’m going to give away $100 and I’m going to make it to three winners. I’m going to put up $300, I’m going to give three $100 gift cards away. I’m going to start this … today’s date is the 17th of November, I am going to run this until … let’s say I’ll run it til the 20th of November, so three days. I’m going to put in my timezone. For me I’m in Eastern. That’s all you really need to fill in on this page. You could put in your terms of use but I’m not really all that concerned with that.

Then what it allows you to do, it allows you to promote your page. Facebook’s Terms of Service say that you can’t entice someone to like the page, so they don’t force this person to like the page but it makes it available if they want to, so I might as well do this. If you haven’t yet we have a new Facebook page, and we’ve rebranded to Marketing Cheat Guides, so if you haven’t yet, by all means head over and give us a thumbs up. We’d really appreciate that. You can use anything you want to let them sign up. I’m just going to allow people to sign up either with their email, or with their Facebook. I’m not going to ask them to subscribe to any other competitions. Basically, that’s all I need on this page.

Then this is where you’re able to encourage people to engage with social media properties, build an email list, or a pixel. The way you would use a pixel is you would send them to a page. You would click visit a page and on that page you would have your pixel. This would entice them in order to get an entry into the competition you’re running, you would send them to a page. For us I’m going to just use visit this page to enter, and I’m just going to use our website because we have a pixel on it. Click here, click to complete, automatically complete, upgrade. That’s worth one entry, and I’m going to make it mandatory that they do this. Actually I’m going to make … yeah, I’m going to make this mandatory. Everybody that wants to enter this competition for the AppSumo has to visit our webpage and that’s one of the ways that they’re going to win.

Then the next thing I want to do is have people subscribe to my YouTube channel. Again, I’m just going to put in the YouTube address of marketingcheatguides.com. That’s not what it is. Probably help if I put in the right URL. … That’s what that is, and I’m going to say that’s worth two points in terms of what we want and do I want to make it mandatory? You know what? I’m going to make none of them mandatory. They’ll have to do one or the other. Then you can go through and make Facebook or Instagram, or any of these as reasons that in order for them to enter your competition, they can get more points or more entries into a competition by filling in more things.

This is just a way for you to offer everyone that’s seeing it, the opportunity to actually have entries. For some of our clients what we’ll do is we’ll go out and we’ll get hockey tickets or some kind of sporting event, and we know that’s going to engage a lot of people in the community. We’ll run promos to that and then we’re going to get people to visit these pages and engage. Now, depending on your audience, you really want to make sure that your focus hits so that you’re not getting people that are outside of your customers’ audience, but you do want to give them something that is an incentive that will make people that are their ideal buyers engage with your product in this competition. All right.

That’s all I’m going to do there. The prize I’m going to do AppSumo Gift Cards, and I’m going to say it is $100 value. There are going to be three winners, three. What it says here is, “Thank you for entering our giveaway, our competition. Thank you for entering our giveaway. Good luck to you,” something just generic like that. Then you click post and you decide whether or not you want to send them an email. I don’t really think you need to send the follow up email. I think if people sign in they sign in and that’s great, but I don’t think you need to annoy them with an email. You’re going to click Save and then what’s going to end up happening is it is going to give us a custom page that we can send people to, and/or we can post to our Facebook group.

This is what the custom page would look like. It’s saying we have an AppSumo Gift Cards, we have three days left, there’s two ways to enter. They either visit page which is our URL, or you become a subscriber, and if you become a subscriber you get two entries. If you just visit the page you get one entry. One allows us to pixel that person, the second allows us to build subscribers with our YouTube channel. This is a very easy way for us to deliver a win to our clients because ultimately what ends up happening is, we run this promotion for them, we’re able to build an email list, we’re able to build a pixel list, we’re able to support their social media properties. The more enticing the kind of prizes, the better you’re going to resonate with that buyer persona.

What you want to do is you want to make sure you’re giving them an offer that really is enticing to somebody that is an ideal prospect. For me, AppSumo Gift Card is great, definitely for digital marketers it’s one of those things that it’s nice to have. They definitely have good deals, and creating $100 value certainly makes it worthwhile for people to click to visit a page, and/or add themselves as a subscriber to our YouTube channel. As we’re coming into the Christmas season, this is something that is huge value because you can build a really good pixel list by giving away one or two things. Like maybe you give away a spa treatment, one or two spa treatments, and the people that visit the page or join the lists are people that you’re going to be able to retarget offering it as a Christmas gift.
