Hey, guys. In today’s video, I want to talk to you about how to manage your schedule for entrepreneurial success. A lot of us that are trying to grow our digital marketing agencies, we have a goal. Right? When we’re trying to grow the business, maybe you want to grow it 30%, 50%, 100%. Maybe you’re new to the industry and you’re just trying to get started, firing your boss, so you’re doing this as a side hustle, and you need to make enough money so that you can quit your job. These are all kind of big goals.
What ends up happening is, we spend a lot of time thinking about our big goals, but we don’t necessarily break them down into our weekly and daily schedule. And that’s a problem, because Aristotle said, “We are what we repeatedly do,” so excellence then, is not an act, but a habit. Again, what that really means is, we need to be intentional about what we put on our schedule, so if our goal is to grow our business, we need to break that down into our three systems, our attract, convert, deliver system.
What does that mean? It means: How much time on a weekly or daily basis are you spending on lead generation? You should be able to take our your calendar and look. When are you going to spend time this week on lead generation? If you know that you’re going to spend three, four, five hours on lead generation, I know for certain that, maybe not this week, maybe not next week, but sometime in the next few weeks or months, that lead generation pipeline is going to turn on and leads are going to start flowing into your business. The same with your sales process. If you have no time devoted to building out sales scripts, or sales processes, or sales systems, or automation systems for your sales process, then very likely what’s going to happen is, it’s going to be one to one. It’s not going to be scalable and it’s not going to be predictable in terms of converting those ideal prospects into paying clients.
And then, again, when it comes to the whole wow experience that you want to deliver for your customers, very often we don’t have time blocked to spend on those systems, and they take time. I’m not going to sit here and say that building a system for your delivery is something that happens overnight. But, what does happen overnight is that time blocking where you say, “All right. This week, I’m going to spend two hours and I’m going to figure out three emails that are going to be part of my onboarding process, so that when a customer comes in, I know email number one, number two, and number three are going to open that relationship, set expectations, and do exactly what you want to see happen in your business.”
When you start to approach your schedule with that kind of intention, very often what happens is, you become that overnight success that people are looking at. Right? I mean, people have a tendency to look at people who are successful and they think that there’s some magic that happened, that they had some breakthrough. And then, they went to be tonight poor or struggling, and then tomorrow morning they woke up and they were successful. And very often, people that have success kind of want to portray it that way, but the reality of it is, there’s generally a lot of work that goes into making somebody an overnight success. The best way I can kind of say it for you to have that is to look at your schedule, have that intention where you’re waking up in the morning and you know exactly what you want to achieve today, this week, this month, leading you to that ultimate goal that you want.
